How to reduce congestion on gym usage during peak hours?

Current Situation:

Overcrowding at gym during peak periods

The average user would stick to 3 sets per machine before moving on to the next machine.

Proposed Solution:

By using your rest period after one set of one type of weight lift e.g. chest press, immediately switch to one set of next type of weight lift e.g. squats instead of resting the muscle group used during chest press. Differentiate between working out different body areas e.g. upper and lower body in the standard rest periods.


After one set of first workout -> Switch to one set of second workout (instead of resting) -> Switch back to one set of first workout (instead of resting)


The routine provides longer rest period for a single muscle group and reduces risk of injury while effectively reducing the amount of time which usually spent on resting to be used on exercising instead. This would not only be useful for time pressed executives who make up the bulk of the members of Fitness First, but would also significantly reduce the total time spent in the gym per member especially during peak periods. Free up space would also attract prospective members as one of the consideration of joining the gym would be availability of machines and space.

Further Considerations:

Yes. Some people/expert know of this way of working out, but i believe that not everyone knows of this.

Method of delivery: 

On the notice board or other information dissemination methods or references to Men Health Magazine article which may have publish this before.

You might want to consider strategically placing workout machines to allow the above suggested method of workout.

Why not; think about what changes no matter how small, which you can do easily; which brings a positive impact on you family, friends or even strangers. Do you think the Boulder at the top of the cliff is more important than the pebbles at the bottom of the mountain? Without the pebbles, would there be a mountain if not at all; without the Boulder, would the mountain be magnificent? A small positive change now may mean tremendous benefits for your children. A dollar savings in terms of time, money, effort , a day given that you work 30 years till you retire, may mean an opportunity cost savings of $10,950.00 not withstanding compounding interest and reinvestment. Say you saved that much for your company; (by contributing to positive changes outside your work scope) perhaps your company reciprocate and
